The conceptual split “Concilium” immerses you in the late Middle Ages, culminating in the Papal Schism.

Zmyrna opens with an acoustic prelude followed by three black metal tracks in a traditional style, featuring period lyrics in Old Czech. Phragments, on the other hand, delivers dark ambient, this time interwoven with echoes and sounds of medieval times. Together, the two bands create a harmonious contrast of musical expressions, forming a shared testimony of the medieval age.

Phragments thematically focuses on the dramatic events of the Council of Constance. Zmyrna moves through the council’s atmosphere, encountering the bluntness of the poor and the piety of the clergy.

A hauntingly immersive collaboration, born from a year-long creative journey between Phragments and New Risen Throne. This concept album explores ecstasy and death as two extreme conditions of human existence, closely examining the dynamic relationship between these two opposites.

Each artist contributed two tracks – one representing Ecstasy, the other Death – before exchanging them to reinterpret and reshape each other’s work. The result is a fusion of individual visions, blending seamlessly into a singular, immersive experience.

Rooted in dark ambient soundscapes, the album blends ominous drones, classical orchestration and analogue synths to craft an atmospheric odyssey through the depths of the human psyche – an exploration of the human condition that invites listeners to confront the intensity of life’s most profound extremes.

Four long compositions, each one exploring the concept of solitude. The sound of Phragments evolves further into introspection, weaving a very dark and dense tapestry of emotions. With the trademark abyssal drones, heavily processed field recordings and sparse analogue synths, the compositions create a strong current of palpable darkness.

The album is a reflection of one’s being with oneself: an experience shared by all humans.

The fifth full-length is unmistakably dark ambient in nature, yet the overall feeling of the songs is more industrial this time. Moving a step further into harsher territory, “All Towers Must Fall” brings together dark ambience, heavily treated field recordings, classical instruments and analogue synths, all echoing with orchestral grandeur.

Phragments still follow a rather abstract and minimalist path, but this time the compositions have a touch of subtle chaos. With the atmosphere ranging from brooding to menacing, “All Towers Must Fall” is a gripping journey through desolate darkness, a gaze into the endless abyss.

Compared to the previous releases, this album is devoted to something much darker and abstract: one long track, broken up into six chapters of slowly evolving landscapes of black and grey drones, sparsely interrupted by orchestral swells of golden light. A more minimalistic approach, but also very detailed and painstakingly composed, flowing seamlessly from one point to another over its 32-minute time frame.

In terms of genre, this is pure orchestral dark ambient – bleak and solemn, yet with a certain calmness and emotionality, becoming almost sacral and poignant as it unfolds.

Phragments and Korinth united into one monolithic entity to produce a common opus. Orchestral choirs, dark ambient and ritual passages create a cinematic journey over the mysterious Greylands – an archetypal and symbolic travel through the hidden side of the world. All songs are the result of a collaboration of the two projects, written, arranged, performed and recorded between 2006 and 2009.

Equipped with an enriched sonic palate, “Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood” mixes forceful brass and dark orchestral strings with rolls of powerful tribal percussion, somber wind instrumentation, ominous atmospheres, industrial clangor, and a strong and commanding vocal presence.

Second full-length. Seven orchestral industrial compositions heavily accented by dark ambient and martial atmosphere. Majestic orchestrations, industrial machinery and noisy outbursts. The album shows a dramatic vision – a somber view of a world that is burning.
